What to Experience When You Visit Uvita!
AUTHOR: Dagmar Reinhard
One is to visit the falls, another to walk along the famous Whale's Tail. And equally important is admiring the creation at your feet.
A site not only recommended for its beautiful views is the Mirador de Don Roger. You will travel with your eyes the entire bay of Playa Colonia, ending with the passage of Moses (as they also call the whale's tail) and the dense adjacent vegetation. When the sun sinks into the ocean in the afternoons, the whole sky paints in pastel colors, and you can admire this incredible spectacle with a good glass of wine.
The kind hosts of the Mirador are Roberto Mora and his wife Saylin. Roberto is a dedicated chef, always finding the freshest ingredients for his various regional and international dishes. He has many years of experience in the kitchen and has ensured that the menu standard always remains the same. The specialty of the rustic restaurant is fish and shellfish, and our very special recommendation is the chef's creation: Fish fillet with shrimp and Mirador sauce.
His collaborators belong to the family and are grateful for the encouraging comments they receive for their good attention and tasty food. The bar is well equipped; ask for the wine list, your favorite cocktail, or a shake of fresh seasonal fruits.
Visitors to the Lookout are Costa Ricans, many from the capital, tourists who have heard of the well-kept secret of the Mirador, and locals who love meeting their friends here. It is an open-air roofed family restaurant, and pets are allowed.
Four years ago, Roberto took over the management of the Mirador, named in honor of Don Roger, one of the first pioneers in Uvita. Roberto invested in improvements for the clients' comfort and added a terrace with the same impressive views. You can watch multicolored birds pecking at the flowers and flapping their wings through the well-kept vegetation of the property and Congo monkeys swinging between the treetops. Depending on the time of day, you can hear their coarse howls.
Don Roberto and his family await you. Welcome!
