Restoring Nature with GrandiOSA

Restoring Nature

In the Osa region surrounding Marino Ballena National Park, the initiative GrandiOSA Costa Rica is dedicated to reforestation, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. The focus is not only on protecting nature, but on actively restoring it through tree planting and the support of beekeeping projects.

Planting Together

One of the actions took place near the famous Whale Tail within the national park. More than 40 people gathered there, including many families and children, to plant together. In total, over 150 trees were planted.

I was personally there, and it was a very special and meaningful experience. Together we searched for suitable spots, dug holes, and planted young trees, surrounded by tropical animals, jungle, and beach. It was especially inspiring to see how enthusiastically the children participated, learning in a very natural way how important it is to treat nature with respect.

The action was coordinated and supported by Christian Ruiz, while Yomaira Quesada, a park ranger at the national park, also assisted on site. In addition, there were collaborations with local partners such as Restaurant Sebas and Ancestral Beauty, who supported the project as well.

Their Mission

Grandiosa Costa Rica has a clear goal: to plant 4.000 trees per year. In the Osa region, such reforestation actions take place regularly, with an average of around 100 trees planted per event – an important step toward this annual target. More planting events are already planned. In addition to reforestation, the initiative also works on expanding bee populations, which play a key role in the ecosystem. Beyond that, the project carries a clear message: moving away from destruction and indifference, toward compassion, peace, and sustainability.

Each planting action is meant not only to positively impact the environment, but also to shift people’s mindset. The goal is to raise awareness and strengthen the connection between humans and nature.
