Don't let your Neighbors go Hungry Tonight!
AUTHOR: Sue Bellord
In 2014 a group of local women heard about a struggling family in the village. Together they gathered resources to help the family. They were overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity from the community and knew others needed help. As they sought ways to support needy families, they soon discovered something else, a new purpose. And so, the Family Support Center of Ojochal (FSCO) was created.
FSCO helps children and families in Ojochal in many ways. The center's services and programs provide basic needs, teach life skills, encourage wellness, and more. The main goal is to provide resources that help people escape poverty and lay the foundation for a better life for themselves and future generations.
The center matches its services with a family's specific needs. One family may need food, while another needs a safe place to live. An individual may need transportation to medical appointments, while another needs assistance with their child's education. FSCO volunteers dedicate countless hours to ensure these local needs are met and families feel supported and respected by the community.

FSCO relies on the kindness and generosity of donors and volunteers to assist families. Through donations of finances, materials, and time, FSCO is making a difference in the lives of locals every day.
You may be asking, "How can I help?"
There are several ways to get involved:
Visit the FSCO thrift store, La Manita, in Ojochal - open Tuesdays 9-12 and Thursdays 12-3.
- Shop or drop off gently used clothing, toys, household goods, and furniture
- Volunteer your time
Support our upcoming fundraising campaigns:
- Celebrate World Children's Day by donating to our Back-to-School Campaign. $50 provides each child with a school uniform and school supplies! www.fscojochal.org/donate (designate for back to school)
- Buy tickets for our Christmas Raffle – tickets available at La Manita thrift store in Ojochal and at Los Laureles Restaurant in Uvita.
- Donate for the holidays instead of buying a gift.
- Moving out, moving in, building, or renovating? Donate unwanted/unused construction materials, furniture, fixtures, or appliances.
- Room in your suitcase while coming to CR? Pack a little something for FSCO – we can provide a list of items needed.

FSCO has grown into a full-service support center, helping hundreds of families and children each year. We invite you to partner with us in assisting local families who need it most. Let's Continue Supporting Families to Build a Healthy Community.
Donations can be made online at www.fscojochal.org/donate or in person at La Manita on Tuesdays from 9 am – 12 pm and Thursdays from 12 pm – 3 pm.
Location: Calle Soluna - 150m north of Calle Principal, Ojochal
