Ballena Tales,  your Comprehensive Magazine and Travel Guide

Dear Reader
Welcome to Costa Ballena, your ideal outdoor destination! Please bring your family and enjoy the lush nature, the kindness of its people, empty beaches, waterfalls, and gastronomy. Have fun in your bubble, even in the rainy season, our absolute favorite time of year, with less traffic, fewer tourists, better deals in hotels and travel agencies. We may have moved here for the heat, and we also do love the refreshing rain.

Costa Ballena is a friendly, beautiful, interesting, and tasty part of the South Pacific of Costa Rica. It welcomes domestic and international visitors at the entrance to Costa Ballena when crossing The Barú River´s bridge at Dominical.
Its three principal towns are Dominical, Uvita, and Ojochal. All of them are entirely different in their appearance.

Dominical is famous for its laidback Pura Vida ambiance and best surfing conditions – friendly locals, a one-strip main road leading to the town´s beach promenade. Best surf, lifeguards, bars, and hostels near the beach and the everchanging mouth of the majestic Barú River.

Uvita, only 17 km toward the South, is the capital of Costa Ballena, all facilities in two town centers, one North and the other South of the bridge, Farmers Market, Marino Ballena National Park, the world-famous whale tail, waterfalls, beaches.
Before getting to your destination Ojochal, another 17 km down South, stop to take your souvenir photos with the dinosaurs: The gas station and a broad range of businesses in the new Centro Ventanas have already opened.
Ojochal: International high-cuisine. Crossing the bridge, find a chic French-style Marketplace and restaurant. The main road is long-stretched, leading to the town center and the mountains with rivers and a waterfall.

The Tortuga beach, and the union of two powerful rivers united with the Terraba river before they force their way into the ocean, is worth experimenting. The Tortuga (turtle) Reserve is just around the corner.

Comprehensive Magazine #78, Comprehensive Magazine, surf season in Dominical Costa Rica

We had to reinvent ourselves during the last year, focusing entirely on a virtual, 100% interactive presence of our bilingual Ballena Tales Magazine. We are achieving great opening numbers (more than 14,000 in the English versión alone), have breached the borders of Costa Rica, and are read by North Americans and Europeans, and surprisingly, many of my German patriots.

Experience has shown us that you need more than local Social Media to be visible abroad.
Now, we are proud to share that many of our loyal customers and readers have urged us to PRINT again. Thanks to their friendly support, we are publishing a bi-annual magazine/guide from June to November, followed by a December to May 2022 edition.

And for the record, our next virtual guide will be out on July 15th for any news and updates you wish to share. Deadline: June 10th, 2021.

Our Marketing company Pointing Market can advise you with your branding, art, and logo design of your business. We create online campaigns to support our customers and cover nearly all Social Media.
