Ancestral Beauty More Than a Store, A Living Community
Author: Viki Delvivir
Located in the heart of Uvita, Ancestral is not just a boutique. It is not just a space for handmade clothing, a curated apothecary, or a collection of meaningful pieces from around the world. Ancestral is something deeper - a place where community gathers, experiences are shared, and something invisible begins to awaken. Every Friday morning, the space opens its doors for "Weekly Pause" - a free community gathering designed to slow down, reconnect, and remember that we are not meant to walk this path alone. Through movement, creativity, wellness, and expression, these moments invite us to return to ourselves and each other. Beyond the physical space, Ancestral extends into the digital world through intentional campaigns such as "Expansive Woman," uplifting women and their talents while creating networks of connection, visibility and collaboration.
Sustainability is not just a concept here, but a shared commitment in action. The apothecary invites customers to return their empty jars, encouraging circular practices and conscious consumption. In collaboration with organizations such as Innoceana and other local initiatives, Ancestral also organizes beach cleanups every third Wednesday of the month - open to anyone who feels called to contribute. Reforestation efforts are also growing in partnership with @grandiosa_costarica. By May 1, over 200 trees will have been planted, restoring the land and inspiring other local businesses to regenerate and give back to the earth.

Now a new chapter is unfolding.
The Cacao Garden is coming to life - an outdoor courtyard for gatherings, music, art, and community-led offerings where creativity flows and the community continues to grow together. The space is open to proposals - artists, facilitators and teachers are warmly invited to be part of this evolving space. Among the many experiences that take place, the Collective Photoshoot has a special meaning. They are more than just images; they reflect unity, beauty, and connection. The cover of this magazine was created during one of these gatherings, in collaboration with photographer @alucinainfinita. A new free collective photo shoot is planned for July, welcoming women of all generations.
The intention of Ancestral has always been to go beyond what we see - to touch what is felt, to honor what is remembered, and to reconnect with what is truly ancestral in each of us. If you feel called to be part of this living community, we warmly invite you to join us.
This is more than a space - it is a place of connection and belonging. A place where we return to ourselves, where we remember, and where we rise - together.
