What has DAWG been doing during the Restrictions?
Author :Susan Strong.
DAWG (Domestic Animal Welfare Group) has some exciting news! We applied for non- profit status in the United States, so people can benefit from a tax deduction when they donate through our US non-profit organization. It also will allow us to apply for grant money in the US. We are happy to announce that we received approval as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in August.
This is perfect timing, as, in the past, most of our donations came from local fundraising events. Due to the restrictions, we have not been able to do any of these types of events.
Another exciting thing that DAWG has been doing is holding spay and neuter clinics on a small scale: no more than 25 pets and having clinics where there is lots of space for social distancing. Presently we are holding 2 to 3 clinics per month, primarily in outlying areas where people usually would not take their pets to a veterinarian. Since DAWG’s inception, over 3000 pets have been spayed or neutered. DAWG continues to be committed to providing this service to the community to reduce abandoned or unwanted dogs and cats.
Why are Spay and Neuter so important? Did you know that dogs can have 2-3 litters per year, and cats can have 3-4 litters per year in a tropical climate? In just six years, one female dog and her offspring can produce up to 67,000 puppies! In only 7 years, one female cat and her offspring can produce over 370,000 kittens!

DAWG Needs Your Help? DAWG wants to continue doing these clinics, but we are getting low on funds. You can make a donation using our US PayPal account, and since DAWG also has non-profit status as a 501(c)3 in the US, your donations through this account are tax-deductible.
