The southwest of Costa Rica, the Osa Peninsula, has so much to offer.
The town of Sierpe is the ideal place to begin your adventure. It is home to fishing captains and ecotour guides that can satisfy your travel adventures.
Sierpe fishing captains know the most abundant spots to fish in the river and offshore; ecotour guides know the beauty of diving and snorkeling around Caño Island.
Hiking, birding, and observing animals in the wild at Corcovado National Park are led by guides who have lived all their lives here.
However, there is so much to experience right around the corner. There are many ways to travel. Some vacationers prefer to travel and sightsee quickly from one place to the next since, in many cases, time is of the essence.
Others prefer to get to know a place and stay for longer than just a few hours or a day. They are the ones who want to feel the essence of the food, the people, and the history by talking to some of the old timers, or to see what the markets have to offer. Sierpe has a gorgeous central park.
Great restaurants line the river, and also Magda at Soda Sierpe has a perfect breakfast and lunch ‘soda’ across from the soccer field. Kayaking or touring the river by boat around Sierpe can be satisfying, exciting, and adventurous. Monkeys, macaws, toucans, iguanas, along with the ‘town’ crocodile can be everyday sights.
Photo opportunities include oxen-drawn carts hauling palm oil nuts plodding along the only paved road in or out of the town. Tour guides are passionate about the history, medicinal plants, and the wildlife that abounds in and around Osa, Sierpe.
The Museum of the Spheres is located a couple of miles before our town. It is listed as a World Heritage Site.
So, come and begin your relationship with this rural Costa Rican village.
