The kayaks are for two people, and the tour is led by the professional guides Carlos and Rómulo, thanks to them, we were able to pass the breakers without difficulty. Once we were on the other side of the breakers, on the shimmery blue surface of the ocean, we found ourselves surrounded by the coastline, the whale’s tail on one side, and rock formations and islands ahead, it was the perfect combination to experience an overwhelming sense of joy. Snorkeling in warm waters face-to-face with colorful schools of little fish, makes anyone immerse into another world.
With perfect synchronicity, the low tide allowed us to head to the world ́s third largest tómbolo, surrounded by two beautiful bays. If you spin around in Sufi-like way, you will see the blue (the ocean) and then green, (the mountains) and blue and green, and so on, it is a colorful experience. Carlos told us his friends invented surfing the kayak by taking advantage of the waves approaching the tail from either bay at high tide.
We paddled back to the beach carrying our kayak over the sand all the way to the river to enter the most amazing and mysterious world of mangroves with their unique roots, birds, and bats.
In one perfect tour, we experienced the different ecosystems this unique marine park has to offer.
