Aurélie is a young girl from Nova Scotia (Canada) with a remarkable voice.
She received her first classical singing lessons when she was eight years old, followed by guitar and keyboard classes. When she turned ten years old, her mother gave her a basic musical equipment together with her first own guitar.
Three years ago, she came with her parents to Costa Rica. Before, they lived for some time in Spain, and visited Ecuador looking for an alternative environment before they decided to move to the French-speaking town of Ojochal, in Southern Costa Ballena. Today, Aurélie speaks Spanish fluently and sings in English, Spanish, and French.
At the beach, she met Anthony Gómez, a Costa Rican musician, guitar, bass, and percussion player, whose preferred model band is the North American group Guns N’ Roses. Anthony has been playing his “Guzmán Álvarez” (a high-quality San Isidro string instrument workshop) guitar and the bass since he was thirteen.
Probably, you have heard him playing with the “Geckos”, a successful local band.
He has been receiving tuition by Tim Rath and Ken Nickell of the G-String Cowboys (who were featured in Ballena Tales #51), and as well as by versatile Camillo Poltronieri, an exceptional musician who lives in Uvita.
Aurélie and Anthony started playing together as a duo, and conquered their audience at many of the resident bars and restaurants with their music ballads, pop, and original songs. Aurélie’s first own creation is “Down tonight”, recorded at Tim Rath’s studio in Ojochal. Both recently graduated from high-school; Aurélie would like to study music therapy, while Antony is still not sure about hitting the books so soon again.
When asked about their future, both coincided that they would like to explore the music scene in Los Ángeles.
