The owners of Mavi Surf Hotel, Massimiliano and Barbara are from Chiavari, a picturesque Italian town in the province of Genoa. They studied at the same school and dated for a couple of months. Fifteen years later, they met again at the University of Genoa. They returned to Chiavari where their two daughters Margherita and Viola were born.
In 2008, they took a sabbatical and traveled to Asia, Chile, and Cuba. At this time, they began making plans to live in a tropical country. In 2010, they visited a friend in Costa Rica who spoke highly of Dominical. In 2013, they bought a lot with the idea of developing the family project, Mavi Surf Hotel.
The little hotel has eight rooms; each one has its own bathroom, kitchenette, and private terrace with table, hammock, and surf rack. Each also has A/C, a fan, and a separate entrance. There is a pool for adults with a section for children, and beautiful landscaping. It is a quiet environment, and located at such a distance from Dominical downtown that guests can easily enjoy all its services without compromising on tranquility.
Barbara recently added the finishing touches to the decor of the facilities, and artist Marvin Fonseca embellished the walls with his tropical paintings.
Max and Barbara are lovely hosts. She bakes the bread for the breakfast while he enjoys the waves of Dominical on his surfboard. And best of all, the hotel is located only 350 meters from the beach.
