When a surfer hears about the swell, there is ground for joy; it is time to start planning.
What is the swell?
It is the series of mechanical waves spreading along the interface between air and water; this is caused by distant weather systems. Anyway, what really matters is, there it comes the wave!
Along the South Pacific and Costa Ballena, we are lucky to have several points reacting differently to the direction of the swell and weather conditions.
Local surfers already know how each of point works. If you are visiting, consult with a local surfer.
Among the best-known points are:
Dominical, The point (Punta Dominical, Hermosa beach. Punta Achiote, Chaman (Colonia beach), Ballena.
And for more surfing fun, check out the waves in the beaches further south: Pavones, Matapalo.
To make sure when to expect the swell, its size, and direction, we recommend visiting www.magicseeweed.com – and select a country or your favorite beach. Happy swell!
