Procession in Honor of our Lady of the Sea

Juan Carlos Fonseca, Secretary of the Pastoral Council, remembers: After eight days of rain, Sunday, July 16th, at daybreak it was sunny with blue skies. For the first time in Bahía a procession in honor of Our Lady of the Sea (Our Lady of Carmel) was held.

She is the patron of Bahía and the boaters. After Mass, the faithful crowd took the statue to the beach and many boats accompanied it on a tour of the sea.

John Nolan, a well-known Costa Rican Marian singer, dedicated his song Estrella del Mar (Star of the Sea) to the Virgin.
