Philippe Chapuy

Philippe Chapuy, a five year resident in Costa Rica, is an expert percussionist who started playing drums at the age of 14. For a while he had left the music scene and it was thanks to a vacation in Costa Ballena that he was able to reconnect with his passion for music. One night, a djembe was given to him to play and that night, although he had not played for years, he was entranced for four hours to play for the small group.

For him, music is passion, rhythm and touching emotions. More importantly it’s about sharing positive energy and having that energy spread like wildfire. He wants to offer people the intensity of music without it being aggressive for the ear, and that he does, if you’ve ever had the pleasure to hear and see him play! His style ranges from electronic to jazz to pop rock. Philippe is now exploring mixing sounds of percussion with electronic music in his DJ-ing, he collaborates with many local artists and as always, enjoys performing live.
