Pérez Zeledón takes off in tourism
Recently, a Municipal Tourist Information Office was inaugurated in San Isidro, capital of the Canton of Pérez Zeledón. It is located in the Central Park, next the Cathedral and in front of Banco Nacional. Mr. Christian Ugalde who graduated in Business Management of Sustainable Tourism, is a generaleño (name of the inhabitants of the area). He can inform you of the most attractive destinations.
The Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Pérez Zeledón and the Municipality have played a key role in the installation of the new headquarters. Its objective is to inform both nationals and foreigners about the beauties of the region, bus and flight schedules, interesting events, and the best options for leisure and free time.
The wonderful region between Chirripó, the highest mountain in the country, and the beautiful Costa Ballena, is criss-crossed by living waters, where the water sprouts in hot springs, waterfalls and natural pools. The well-known Catarratas de Nauyaca, La Ceiba, Namú, and Termales Gevi show scenarios of flora and fauna with an incredible variety of endemic birds.
There are excursions offered to Cerro de la Muerte, where you can visit ancient caverns in the community of Páramo. Nearby is the Las Quebradas Biological Center (protector of the water resources), the Alexander Skutch Biological Corridor and rural tourism ventures as ATURENA and AMACOBAS.
The city of San Isidro, also known for the most beautiful women in the country, reinvents itself this year and will provide a wide cultural offer: theater, music, literary spaces, as well as its very busy Farmers Market that takes place every Thursday and Friday.
