Dominical is a town that offers a diversity of outdoor activities within “walking distance,” which appeals to people seeking a life of simplicity.

One’s quality of life increases with living a simpler life. Simplicity is something I’ve been seeking most of my life, and I found it here!

Some outdoor activities within a short walk of Dominical are:
1. Catch a wave! Dominical is internationally recognized for its consistent and powerful beach breaks, where there are waves for both pros and beginners. The waves break right in front of the restaurants and hostels in town. Check the tides, the conditions, and get out there!

Many locals cast their lines both in the river and the river’s mouth. I’ve seen massive fish pulled out of the Barú River with a pole or with a hand line. Impress someone by catching dinner.

3. Journey to a waterfall! There are a few things more refreshing and purifying than a dip in a clean, cold waterfall. Take the trail that begins behind the bathrooms on the south end of Plaza Pacifica. Follow this trail four minutes into the jungle where you will arrive at a waterfall that cascades 20 meters down the rocks into a small pool.

4. Go SuPing – Head over to Pineapple Tours and rent a SuP (Stand up Paddleboard) or take your own. With Hacienda Barú on one side and the town on the other, there is plenty to look at as you paddle around the Barú River.
