Fundraising is the lifeline of any dog and cat rescue operation, especially in Costa Rica, where there is no government funding.

Fundraising allows DAWG (Domestic Animal Welfare Group) to do what they do – to eliminate abuse and abandonment and to provide a loving and caring home for all dogs and cats in the Costa Ballena  area. Monies are also used for low-cost spay and neuter clinics as well as emergency assistance for the pets of local families in need.

How to help

• If you meet someone who volunteers for a local rescue organization, then offer to give them a donation.
• Deposit a donation in the honor box in the retail area of Centro Veterinario Costa Ballena in Uvita.
• Attend events where money will be donated to the local rescue organizations.
• See a post on Facebook? Then please share it with your animal-loving friends. This helps promote awareness and allows more people to see posts.
• Visit Adoption Day on Saturdays at Centro Veterinario Costa Ballena, say hello to the pets for adoption, thank the volunteers and leave a donation so they can keep doing what they are so passionate about doing.
• Donate supplies that an organization needs. This could be food, cat litter, dog or cat toys, dog beds, collars, or leashes. “Hand-me-downs” are also welcome!
• Organize a fundraising event to help raise money.
• If you have social media skills with Facebook or Instagram, then donate your skills to a local rescue.
• Help a neighbor who has a pet and needs financial assistance.
