The first of many full moon parties was held at Playa Ventanas, 5 km North of Ojochal de Osa and 10 km South of Uvita of Costa Ballena de Osa, last Saturday January 26th, 2013. There were over 70 people who attended the concert in the evening. And despite the unusual summer rainfall, the concert went on and the almost rained out attendees gathered under the tents, laughed and played music together until the rain stopped. Musical instruments ranged from the didgeridoo to traverse flute, drums, to acoustic guitar, it was a perfect match where acoustic sounds met electrical guitars. The voices of two female singers, one local and one from the capital, reverberated through the magical night. And the full moon shone on the vast extension of the beach and the Pacific Ocean.
The concert was organized by locals, Uli and Perceval, whose main goal was to present a concert at the beach that encouraged local artists from all genres from ska to rock latino and help them receive some income for participating in the event. Uli said, “We do it because we love it! We want everyone to have a good time.” The event was a success, as one goal was to play music until the sun came up and that they did! We look forward to many more Full Moon Parties at the beach, where great people get together to enjoy and create sounds like no other in the jungle.
The help of José María Alfaro, Gaby Bruna and Don Rolando Alfaro was instrumental for this crazy beach party. Thanks also to everyone who transported the equipment and drink and especially thanks to the musicians who played with all their heart until dawn.
On February 23 we will hold the next full moon party at Playa Ventanas!
