By Dagmar Reinhard

20 years ago, Jo Ann and herhusband came to Costa Ricaon a vacation for the fist time, and this Christmas they are celebrating 12 years of living in Dominical.
Jo Ann is a retired nurse who has loved art her whole life. Many years ago, Jo Ann studied Chinese brush painting in China and gives now classes in her studio near Dominical.

She found a rewarding outlet for her talents when she stepped into the Catholic Church ‘Our lady of los Angeles.’ It is where father José offers the Mass every Sunday at 9 am.
Jo Ann was happy to contribute with a painting of a life-size crucifiion scene behind the altar of the little church. She also painted the Stations of the Cross in her particularly expressive style. (check galery bellow)

Though Spanish is still hard for her, involvement with church has enabled her to make many Tico friends and she feels integrated now in the neighborhood.
Her message for Christmas is: Open your heart and come and experience the sense of community and joy. love is joy and joy is contagious!
