Shaping Wings

alas2Our Team…

My name is Ericka Sibaja, director of the center Forjando Alas(Shaping Wings). As a psychologist, I bring my expertise in community work, recreation, and social work.

Our team is very diverse and includes people with a variety of skills, professions, nationalities, and ages. We share our love for children and a holistic vision of life.

       • Alejandra Guzman grew up in the community and has experience working with children, teaching English and yoga.

     • Claudia Aragon is a professional in applied arts, floral therapy, development of community projects, and advocacy of gender equality.

        • Natalie Guerrero is a psychologist and specialist in human resources and education.

We also have as volunteers, Alisson Ugarte, who was a student and now is our assistant; Emily Cantrell, a teacher and community developer; and a group of mothers, fathers, and friends.alas

A few years ago, our executive director, Courtney Fletcher, came from the United States to visit the area and fell in love with the community. She realized some kids and teenagers, after school, spent too much time on the streets, sometimes getting involved in problems ranging from robbery and sexual abuse to drug use.

In 2011, she established Forjando Alas (Shaping Wings) with the purpose of helping children to spend their free time in constructive activities and developing personal skills to stay away from drugs.

We would love if you join us!
