The People of Dominical

La Gente de Dominical Little Linda (2)

By Dagmar Reinhard

This was my first vacation in years,” Linda Agovino told us. She is from Montauk, NY, a picturesque beach town with only 4000 full-time residents, and favored by millions of tourists every summer. The town has lakes for swimming and fishing, woods, hills, and beautiful houses from President Roosevelt’s time.

For the last eight years, Linda has been a friend with Rachel and Nego, owners of Pineapple Tours; they have worked with Linda at a rooftop restaurant in Montauk, where they go during the Costa Rican low season.
Linda is a petite lady with a bubbly personality who decided to visit her friends Rachel and Nego in Dominical. They rented a little house on Sesame Street for her, a few hundred meters from the beach.

Blessed with the friendship of some of Dominical´s best tour operators, Linda had the chance to visit the mangroves, the famous whale’s tail, Ventanas, to practice SuP at the Barú River, and hike to Nauyaca Falls. She also visited the Tilapia farm and spent time at Los Sueños Yacht Club. Of course, Envision was on the list. She enjoyed the music and the sense of freedom by being with people with an open heart.

Linda is a nature lover and a bird nerd. Michael, a local tour guide, taught her many secrets about the ocean and its ecosystems. She had the opportunity to save a baby opossum and take it to the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary.

Linda had to undergo dental and eye treatment while in Costa Rica. In her experience, the cost of treatments was a 3rd of the price she would have paid in the US, and the attention and service were outstanding.

When we asked Linda what she liked the most, she didn’t hesitate to say “ the people of Dominical.”
